Advanced Illness Management = Holistic Medical Coaching

For Loved Ones with Serious Illness
and Those Who Care For Them

Most people don’t like to talk about advanced illness, including physicians.
Having a serious illness conversation is the best practice to resolve uncertainty.

Advanced illness occurs with aging which makes a holistic medical coach necessary. Holistic individuals are highly effective in managing uncertainty to avoid loss of sanity and dignity.

My message aligns with the Conversation Project.

Holistic Medical Coach

I help those with chronic illness create a self-determined (holistic) plan of action to overcome worry with wisdom.

The Holistic Medical Model

The holistic medical model integrates left-brained medical services and right-brained holistic resources. The one-sided medical model often leaves patients feeling helpless and dependent on physicians. We become trapped by the “damned if we do and damned if we don’t” follow the doctor’s orders.

Advanced illness management requires integrating our left and right brains – evidence-based medicine and faith-based mindfulness – the medical doctor and the holistic coach.

Holistic medical coaching helps you become centered, draw from within, and feel like a whole person again. The impact of this coaching is explained in my TEDx presentation “Real Serious Illness Conversations with Parents.”

MORE SERIOUS PLANNING

  • Imagine being diagnosed with a serious illness and not knowing what to do, then thinking Dr. H explained the best practice of honoring your best interest.
  • Imagine all your doctors discussing your care plan in one room, then think of an ER doc as the “doc of all trades” with one master plan.
  • Imagine being in the ER and given the choice between home care and hospitalization then think about holistic medical coaching as helping in the decision.
MORE COACHING

How will I help?

30 years of caring for thousands of people at all stages of life in the emergency department has taught me how to simplify the complexities of personal medical problems in a holistic, whole-person, approach.

We often hear the phrase, “person-centered care” that focuses on what the patient wants. Holistic medical coaching helps you become centered to make personal wishes known.

To be honest . . .
If you’re happy with your physician making your medical decisions,
you’re not ready for holistic medical coaching.

If you don’t like doctors and frustrated with not feeling better,
you need a holistic medical coach.
